I wasn't going to bother answering this question due to the tone of many of the answers. However, having been there and seen what is going on first hand, I simply could not take it anymore. Are there really people out there who believe this is a war to secure oil for Exxon? for Bush? Are you really that simple? When the Dems wanted to help fund the war by securing oil deals from Iraq, the GOP said "No way!" We are doing everything we can to make sure Iraqi oil is secure for Iraqi's. Anyone who tells you different is a liar, plain and simple. Haliburton, Bechtel, etc. are all international construction companies who are able to quickly mobilize heavy equipment and personnel on a scale necessary for the job of rebuilding a country's infrastructure. Get it? If you own a company that has similar equipment and resources, contact the white house, they could use you too. Meanwhile, shut the hell up! We are NOT building bases beyond the scope of any country, we're building bases to support the troops we have deployed...as "demanded" by the american people who keep saying we don't have enough troops over there, but we should bring them home now...make up your mind! Do you want to fight the terrorists over here, or over there? They were around long before we invaded Iraq, in fact, they were around during the Clinton years, only he failed to act and so did Bush until we were actually attacked. And if you say "yeah, but Iraq didn't attack us", so what? We waited until Bin Laden attacked when we should have gone after him "before" he attacked. The Russian Pres. Vlad Putin told Bush, and the US (for those who even remember) that Saddam "was" planning future attacks by terrorist cells on American soil. However, since this does not support the left-wing agenda, you seldom hear of it. We are NOT building any extravegant Embassy in Iraq, who told you that? Have you any pictures of this palace? Are you just a parrot? Why don't you "think" before babbling? We have gone out of our way to avoid even a bullet hole in a Mosque where the terrorists are firing on our troops so we don't "offend" our enemies...yet they blow up entire mosques, including the people in them, along with markets, police stations, etc. Why aren't you out protesting "their" actions? Because your protesing "their" actions wouldn't be a protest against Bush, which is all you really care about, isn't it? Hey, figure out who you want to win, us or them. There really isn't any middle ground because this war, the war against those who want you dead, don't really care who's in the white house, they want you dead, period. You can get out of Iraq, stay away from Iran, get out of Saudi Arabia, etc., and they'll still come for you...and if you don't realize that, print this out so when it happens you can't say someone didn't try to get this through you're thick head. Bush is not your enemy, he's trying to keep you safe. He's made mistakes, but so did FDR, Eisenhauer, Kenndy, in fact, pretty much any president or world leader who's ever been in power during a war. That's the nature of war, regardless of who started it. This probably fell on deaf ears, but in case this got through to even one person, thanks for listening.

The last I knew, Bush is not there, our troops are. Our troops are being put into harms way to try to help the Iraqi people gain stability so they can be self sufficient with their own oil. If the idiots blowing stuff up would look at the facts, they might just appreciate the fact that stability, and a stable economy is better than what Saddam had in mind for them.

Does Iraq look like a place you'd take your kids on vacation?! Does anyone remember how Beirut looked in the early to mid 1980's? Iraq is looking like that image of Beirut.

The USA will leave Iraq once it resembles the moonscape, polluted dump sites that the Soviet Union left eastern-europe in back in 1989. Once the US and the Brits squeeze every drop of oil from its sun-baked sands, Iraq will no longer be worth defending in the name of 'democracy'. Think about why the USA is not forcing its way into Sudan. Sudan is just a large sandbox with alot of human tragedies. The US and the Brits are motivated by Iraqi oil..not preserving human lives and dignity. Where is the honor? Our soldiers and personnel may be honorable, but our President Bush (and his dad) has it all wrong. I pity the Iraqi's who live under occupation, and I support our troops. Bring our troops home..alive! President Bush should be tried as a war-criminal!

Troops are just following their orders . But what is the results of our aggression in Iraq? Well, lots of dead people, and for every one of them there are 10 that hate America now!
And from the 10, at least 2 will be doing some action against us. We are just creating enemies ?

Iraq was a mistake. But instead of blaming we need to ask ourselves what is the right thing to do now? Will we desert those to whom we have made promises or will we just walk away like we did in Vietnam? The answer to your question is why are we philandering smug that we cannot be caught. Cry America

Nation building on a foundation of blood and fossil fuels, do you think the Pres; asked the Iraq people if they wanted to have the front line on terror fought in their backyard? Stay the course we might get a real good democracy in the region, just ask any woman in Baghdad.

Bush is not in Iraq, the troops are. The troops are their trying to bring some sort of stability to the region. Originally they went there to oust a dictator bent on geoncide, and to look for WMD's.
Our troops aren't the ones blowing everything up, the people who live there are.

Bush is a wannabe general. Has no clue what he is doing and the troops are doing his dirty work. They are building the most lavish embassy ever built. They are building more bases than any where else in the world. They are protecting the oil fields for future use. It's a noble cause, but the price is the united states is now looked upon as liers, isolationists, killers, and as the pirates of the middle east. We are in a rediculous state of affairs!
