He believes in the "new world order" vision of his father. Also, realism dictates that removing all the illegals will cost a lot and Bush believes in smaller (at least some of the time) government and lower taxes. Thirdly, the agricultural lobby is quite powerful and they are for it. He also seems to believe that open borders in the New World is needed to counterbalance the economic threat of the EU plus China is trying hard to make inroads in the New World because her ever expanding industries require more and more raw materials and it is seen as a limiting factor on USA power. He made a promise to the former Mexican President to do so back in 2000 or 2001 and has been for a form of amnesty from the get go. Lots of reasons. The fact that these border crashers are criminals by default seems to have been missed, somehow.

It could be because he has realized that it's futile to try and continue evicting people from this country. That and people have been breathing down his neck to make a decide outside of strengthening border patrol and Iraq funding. Or it could just be because he was told to support, it's obviousy he has a hard time making his own decisions.

You can be sure that he will never do anything that doesn't benefit his big business cronies, so they like it. Somehow, they will still be able to exploit cheap labor. Bush never does anything for the good of the people! *sm*
