Iguanas come in many colors, and color patterns, mostly different hues from beige, light to dark brown, gray, and black. Very few of these iguanas have a color adjective, such as "green" iguana. The various green iguana species make up less than ten percent of all iguana species (minority species), therefore the color adjective is a a determiner. Most of the other iguana are not named after their colors because so many species share common color variations (this also includes most mature green iguanas). This is not to say that there is only one species of green iguana (as you stated with the Chinese Green). If most iguanas were green, then they probably would not be named after their color. Green iguanas are the most recognized iguana in the world due to their dominant status in the pet trade.

There are 3 kinds of Iguanas. One is a Marine Iguana, the largest, that lives on the Galapagus Islands. The Green Iguana, which gets to about 4', lives throughout Panama and is sold here a lot as pets. The color of that one is solid green. There is another Iguana that is a combination of grey/greenish/tan. The body is very fat and the Iguana is overall shorter.

No they are not. Their are several types of iguanas, as mentioned. BUT, even green iguanas are not all green. "green" iguanas also come in red, orange, and a shade of blue.
