Well, I’ll try to explain this slowly for you, ok? There is just the one God. This is the God worshiped by Christians and Jews. He is eternal. He created the Universe. He created Man, male and female. He created marriage for them to reproduce. You suggest there was marriage before the covenant God made with the Jews; there is no historical evidence for this since that covenant predates recorded history. Even if there were marriage before people self-consciously described themselves as the “chosen people,” it proves nothing. Because God created marriage, it is written in the heart of Man from the beginning. Pretty simple, huh?
The fool hath said in his heart, "There is no God."
- Psalm 14

There was no law before Israel came out of Egypt, most did what they thought was right according to the conscience God gave them. Men would see women as the weaker sex because Eve was deceived but Adam sinned because he loved Eve. Christ established one man to one woman as an example of one God and no other. God is not a Christian God or any other religious God. He is God period. The Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He does not know the future. He is the future. Hope this helps a little. Try not to be too angry at Him. He is too powerful to worry about you, but He does care. By the way, it feels great to be a fool for God!!

I'm Christian. You do not seem to be if you refer to an invented God.
Being Christian does not make me a better person than you, or a worse one, or a smarter one, or a more gullible one.
Where did you get the notion that the Christian God invented marriage? Primitive prehistoric humans, too busy trying to find food to consider things eternal, had a kind of marriage--if only to make sure that babies could be born and survive.
Your ideas are even more strange than those of the Bible-punchers, who have disobeyed God's command to use our brains that He gave us.
Maybe you think that just because some Christians say stupid things that everything about my faith is stupid.
Think what you want. My faith in my God is stronger than you or your disrespect for me and my fellow Christians.

Dude, there are ALOT of good arguments you could be making, but this isn't one of them. Society is only slightly less put off by pagans jumping over a broom than by homos. There were not CHRISTIAN marriages before christ and only christian marriages are good. You should consider the following topics: IF THE ARGUMENT AGAINST GAY MARRIAGE IS THAT IT DESTROYS THE SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE, THAN HOW COME STRAIGHTS CAN MARRY AS MANY TIMES AS THEY WANT. DOES IT HONOR MARRIAGE IF YOU DO IT 8 OR 10 TIMES?is Newt Gingrich a better rep. for the sanctity of marriage with his third wife than a gay couple who only marry once for life?STatistics show that 70% of married people cheat, where is the sanctity and purity in that? If gay marriage is illegal because it is an offense to marriage itself, then adultery and divorce should be illegal too

Because GOD was there before religion...I think that before religon had a name, God was there and so that is why there was marriage.
How sad for you that you think that God is an invention of the mind...

There was nothing until God created it. I don't consider myself a fool. I have faith. Why would you criticize someone for that?
