And why do they strip the membranes can anyone give me some info?

37 weeks is considered full term and a doctor will do this if the baby is very big and fears that it could be a difficult delivery for mom or if mom is just that uncomfortable and hopes to go a little early.

Best case scenario if nothing is wrong, let your body and the baby decide when it is time to welcome your little one!

Don't let your doctor do this without a long conversation about why!!!!!!!

They COULD if there were a medical reason why to do so. It's painful (crampy) and I don't see a reason why they would.
They strip the membranes if a woman is overdue or not progressing. Or if there's a medical reason to get things moving quickly.
They put a gloved finger into the cervix and kinda swirl it.

Yes, I was stripped at 38 weeks. My doctor stripped mine because I was beginning to get pre-eclampsia. Good luck with your delivery!!
