Okay, I previously was upset by the nastiness toward the McCanns. But then I read this on the bringmadeleinehome.com site.
"Thanks to the support of hundreds of well-wishers this Friday Madeleine will be remembered world-wide.”
Said her parents in a statement.
WTF? REMEMBERED? That is what you say when someone is DEAD, not when they're missing. What the hell????
Look, I wouldn't wish anyone the agony of losing their child or the guilt... but my God, ''remembered''? It's not as if the McCanns are inarticulate, either, so that can't be an excuse.
I feel a bit sick.

grizzbr1 - Try arguing with common sense, son. You've made assumptions about me, and insulted me, when you actually do not have the foggiest clue who I am, whether I am a parent, or anything else. how mature.
I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child, I hope I never find out, and I would not wish that on my worst enemy. I am surprised at the use of the word 'remembered' - as wildamber correctly points out, I don't know whether it was made by the McCanns, or their solicitors, or President Bloddy Putin.
How dare you make such ignorant assumptions when you don't know who you're talking to? Take a reality check, pal. You need it.

Good point. I believe I read where they left the kids alone and went to eat at a restaurant. If that's true, it's absurd! Who does that? Here in USA we have laws against child neglect.
I still feel for them. I can't imagine anything more horrible than not knowing where your child is.

It's amazing how willing the gerry&kate crew - including their sympathisers - are to 'let things be' now.
Among the things no-one (including the police) is allowed to do are: wonder if the child was 'abducted' at all; say that the child might be dead; start looking for a body in Praia da Luz (because it would upset them); wonder who the other 9 people were in the McCann party; follow up any leads which imply a body; imply that the child is still in Portugal; question the value of travelling abroad; question the value of 'international' publicity; wonder why there's a PR company hired; wonder why a 'campaign manager' is being hired; wonder why the McCanns didn't think the Rothley 'shrine' was 'helpful'; ask any questions about what the family did, hour by hour, on 3 May - including what time they last saw their child; wonder why the family aren't in Malta since they went everywhere else ...
We'll never get this stuff answered at all. Interviews with the couple are like interviews with William & Harry ...

Hmm... it might be that they didn't make the statement themselves, but I think a PR group would have chosen the wording more carefully if they'd written it on the McCann's behalf. The statement could have been worded by someone else. I see what you mean, though...
The agony of losing a child must be hideous. I can't imagine what it must be like for the parents, and we really shouldn't be assuming that we know all the facts from trashy tabloid reports. I wouldn't trust the British press as far as I could throw 'em.

Well, the liklihood is that she has been dead for a while now (the majority of children who are abducted end up dead). Also, I must say that the parents have been acting suspiciously all along (i.e. they don't look too upset, do they? My friend's brother was abducted, never found, three years ago, and thei mother still can't talk about it without crying, teh McCanns look rather composed.) I'm not the only one who thinks they may have had a part in the whole thing (as in they killed her).
what's happening on Friday?

No body really knows anything about Madeleine yet. All these sightings could turn out to be hoaxes. Your right no one should say anything until they are fully sure. We all feel sick. Your not on your own. I have been sick since I heard the parents neglected their own children and I still don't feel any better about them in fact I feel worse now.

My beloved mum-in-law has been dead for 13 months and I still refer to her in the present tense. I forget she isn't here anymore and say things like "Oh, she'll love these shoes." I have children and can't imagine thinking of them in the past tense. "Remembered???" Does that mean they've been forgetting her???? Dear god!! How????

The quoted statement has sickened me. It sounds like they given up hope. I'm "anti-McCann" only because of their absolute stupidity. I only care about the whereabouts and welfare of little Maddie- not this media circus!
