Yes, i'm still a minor but have a checking account / credit card under my name. [Througjh bank of america].

Now, if i cant rent a hotel is there any ideas where I can stay? I have no family in las vegas, there's just a convention down there that we are going to attend. No drinking / parting going to happen. Just to sleep / shower/ leave.

I don't think you can reserve a hotel or motel if you're not a legal adult. You can probably stay at a private motel though, because they make their own rules. Something like a bed and breakfast motel.

You're going to have to find a low end hotel or even a motel to check you in. Most of the Strip ones will not bother with you if you're under 21. Look for ones off the strip.

you will need someone 21 or older to check in. They won't give a room to a kid without any adult present.

you might try having yours or your friends parents call the hotel of the convention and reserving it under their name.. not really sure how far that would get you though.

However, if you stay somewhere else, make sure you plan for transportation becuase there is no way you will get a rental car. its hard enough under 25.

I don't think you can get a room until you're 18 - DEFINTIELY not at any of the hotels on the Strip. You can try calling the Hampton Inn on Tropiciana or there's a Marriott off the Strip as well - they might allow you to check in.
