I'd like to know why this wireless provider is only to be found in some very limited areas, some of them quite small? Why aren't they across the USA like Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, etc???

Metro PCS has specific rights to the areas they operate in. They use the frequency they bought, and do not go out very far. They do, however, offer their towers to other carriers - and let them "roam" on them.....

Coverage could be better - or, they could be bought up by a bigger carrier....

Good Luck!

It costs billions to set-up a cell network across the whole US.
It is easier for them to compete in metro areas.
