Yes it takes a week or two to get where it doesnt hurt any more, you might think those big spring loaded tractor seats would be better, but its a myth, the skinnier, the better, I have a thin, gel seat. after about a week, if its the first time I have ridden for the year, and everything is o.k. Those big seats always hurt, tho...

yep. you need more Time In The Saddle.
you will get used to it - a good pair of biking shorts will make a 40 mile ride feel like a 5 mile ride in regular shorts (at least for your butt)

Oh yeh! You actually have to develop a sort of "butt callus" to resist the pressure. Keep riding and it will hopefully lessen! Then just wait till next spring when you get to start over agin!!

Yup yup. Not pleasant. Neither is horseback riding for three straight hours. Found that out the hard way. Damn saddle....maybe I should try bareback.

That's why my bicycle cushion is ultra-super-gel-padded. It is so freaking awesome and it only cost $19.95 with shipping and handling! It came with a free bike horn! I am the envy of my neighborhood now.

Yeah, not just my butts, mind you, but some other anatomy down under as well, when I first learned to cycle. OUCH! Maybe that's why I never quite get cycling; I'm still wobbly!
