I have all my dads war memorials from WW2 that he gave me and a Mickey Mouse watch that I had when I was six.
I also have more then several things from my folks, besides eczema from my mom, asthma from my mom and arthritis from my mom also, or her side of the family, the genes you know.

Just a piece of advice my dad gave me before he disappeared for the last time:
He said, "Son, never kick a man when he's down."
I asked, "What do you mean?"
He replied, "You'll understand what I mean when you're older."
He was right. I do understand -- and I agree with him.
If I ever had a kid, I'd pass it on, but I don't have kids and it looks like I never will. Oh well.

umm, the only thing that comes to my mind is the pair of ancient boots of my dad's, but that wasn't passed down through the generations. oh wait, I just thought of something. my family name, Rosgen, and with it, our artistic, intelligence gene. we have a tendency to succeed. for example, my uncle Dave Rosgen, has even been in the national geographic catalog. it's a very uncommon name, and has a lot to live up to.

Actually, what I have came from one of my tenants who recently passed away. He had cancer and knew he was dying. Just this past March, when he came in to visit me, he gave me a broach that his Grandmother gave to his Mom who gave it to him. The most touching thing about it, is he has two daughters to whom he could have passed it on, but he chose to give it to me.
He died on May 29 and it was very sad and hard on me. I don't normally get close to my tenants, but his heart and spirit made it impossible not to want to. He taught me to always laugh no matter how much it hurts. I wear the broach in memory of him.
I miss you, Tim.

I have my mother's family Bible. It dates back to around 1900, and it has all our family members from the 1800's listed in the front.
It's really neat, especially since I love genealogy.
