The wild card in the MLB works as follows.
There is a wildcard in the American and the National League. In each division(AL West, Central, East, NLWest etc...) you have your first place teams and everyone else. The wildcard goes to the team in the AL with the best win % among the teams that aren't holding a first place position in their division. Also the same in the NL so when you get to playoffs you have 6 first place teams and 2 teams from each wildcard.
The Jays can obtain the wild card if they can manage to complete the regular season with the fourth best win% in the AL.

the wildcard team is the team with the best record in each league that is not a division winner. the wildcard team plays the division winner with the best record in the first round of the playoffs, unless that team is from the same division. unfortunately for the blue jays, each win counts about 33% less than wins by american teams. exchange rate or something.

The wildcard berth goes to the second-place team with the best record among the three divisions per league.
So the WC team could have anywhere from the second to fourth best record overall.
Tiebreaker methods exist.

the three division winners get in and then the best record out of all other a.l. teams gets in. So, the would have to finish not only with better record than yankees in thier division, but also detroit or cleveland or twins of the central and a's and seattle of the west. they would have to beat all records except the division winners. So, they have little to no shot of getting into the playoffs this year.

LoL the jays and wildcard, two words in wrong sentences.
Wild card will either be Detroit, Cleveland or the Yankees.

Yea but they would have to out-performer a few teams to do it. The Indians, Twins, Mariners, and A's are ahead of them in the Wild Card standing and they would have to play better than all of those teams right now to do it.
