since whenever i try to start up bf2, it crashes after a black screen and i want to make sure that it's not the video card causing the problem

You are using integrated graphics and most likely w/ limited RAM. Even w/ large RAM, it might run miserably slow at low resolution and low quality settings. Just get a good video card if you want to enjoy the game. If you are using a laptop, then, you are out of luck.

Hi. I've been and Avid fan of the Battle Field series. I currently own the latest copy for PC; Battle Field 2142.

Your question should be something that included your current system specifications to allow a decent answer from someone with half a brain in high performance gaming.
