If I ran a school my grades would be:
A, B, C, Do over.
and where we live, Ds are considered a failing grade.
Yes. Mastery of a subject requires at least a C. Otherwise, you didn't get it and need to take it again.

You need to find out what your school district requirement's are. When I was in highschool you couldn't get anything lower than a C and get credit for the semester. Without credit for that semester you couldn't graduate, on time with the rest of your class, without taking summer school
Talk to your school academic counselor... They can help you make that decision and they will know what the specific requirements are.

By all means go to summer school and repeat at least one of these courses. Unless you plan to take a college course in chemistry for which you would need a better foundation, I would advise repeating the English. This will not only improve your GPA but it will also help you be more ready to attend college.

First of all, there are requirements that the student must meet in order to qualify for summer school. They don't just accept anyone. Ask your counselor or someone at school for a copy of the summer school policies. This should answer your question.

Here is what I always told my kids: an F tells me you didn't show up in class, a D shows me you might have been sleeping, a C shows me there might have been some effort, a B shows me you opened a book, and an A shows me you were smarter than a B.
You can figure out what to do from there, right?

Yes that means you are w/o a half of a year of knowledge in each and if you're college prep you will need that with almost any major.
