1. TEXAS Every other state (or country) just isn't as great! It is the most incredible, vibrant, friendliest COUNTRY in America (and the world!) I fell in love w/ TX at first sight and have never gotten over it, and plan to move there from KY.
2. N. Carolina. Beautiful--love the fall foliage and the snow-covered mountains in winter. The coast is supposed to be beautiful. The natives just have a genuine, friendly vibe.
3. California. Is it liberal? Lord, yes. Outside of the cities, I'm sure it's really a beautiful, diverse state! Great colleges, but HIGH taxes. Most Californians I've met seem cool.
4. Kentucky: cold, impolite people who don't like to smile for some reason. Cold winters suck, and the cost of living is too expensive given its dismal job market. (Lexington is VERY snooty, and Somerset, Corbin, etc. are dumps...) Yuck!
5. Ohio: one of the few places worse than KY. The only place in OH that I even like is Cincinnati. 2/3 of the state is flat and boring.

For someone so in love with the friendliness of Texas you sure lay down some narrow minded, limited view unfriendly hate on some other states.

I live in Texas, so would agree with your assessment.
North Carolina is okay. I've lived in places I liked better.
I like Kentucky. It's a very beautiful state. I haven't spent that much time in the cities there, but the state is pretty.
My oldest son lives in Ohio. In Cincinnati. Most of what I have seen of Ohio is pretty nice.
California? Best thing we could do with that place is cut the moorings and let it drift out to sea.
You didn't mention Colorado (the most beautiful state in the U.S. and the place Texans go when they leave Texas), Montana (Big Sky Country) or Georgia (scratch a Georgian and he bleeds red, white and blue.)

Except for Texas, I totally agree with you. I've only been to Texas once (San Antonio) and it was HOT!!! LOL!!! But given a chance to visit again, I think I might like it.
My #1 pick would be CA. It's liberal, warm, friendly, diverse. Lots to do. Beautiful beaches. Beautiful mountains. Love, love, love San Francisco. Also adore Palm Springs and the desert. My #2 would be NC.
Ohio just plain sux. I lived there for 19 years. Blech! Left a few years ago for Florida and I don't regret it for a minute.

I dont know how you would say that Ohio is worse than Kentucky- other than it must be your Kentuckian inferiority complex kicking in. Dont deny it- Kentuckains all hate Ohio, since all Ohioans laugh at Kentucky and its trailer parks.
Texas is OK. Ive spent a couple of years there, and I certainly wouldnt brown-nose it the way you do. Its just OK- hot, humid, flat, but low taxes and good people. Cali- I personally wouldnt live there, quite liberal, very expensive, high taxes, etc. I agree with you on that one, and the Coast is very nice as well, the Outer Banks are really nice.

Well, i live in Ohio, and i always liked the state. I used to live in Texas, and i like it there MUCH better...but that was 10 years ago, and i imagine it must be overrun with mexicans now. I'd move back, but i don't want to leave my family, also i LOVE snow! I think Ohio is beautiful, and i always heard that Kentucky was one of the friendliest states...(southern comfort??) but maybe not...i need to get out there and see for myself. Great question.

being that i have a house in california and go there frequently,(well actually thats where i'm from, but i moved here to manhattan when i was younger) i'd definatly pick california. i love the beaches and the people. i haven't been to any of the other states listed (except for texas. i've passed through Houston while changing planes) but even if i have i'd choose california. :)

North Carolina. It's absolutely beautiful there. I fell in love with it the first time I went there and I'm definitely going to live there when I grow up.
