RE:
Is the movie "The Green Mile" a true story?

2015-08-12 23:32:56 · answer #2 · answered by Anonymous · 0 1

The film is not based on a true story as many others have said. But the story that Stephen King wrote was inspired by an old prison that he had seen. Some of the events that happened in the story had occurred in the prison such as the corruption by the warden and other events. But not the John Coffey part of it. That came from the mind of the master, Stephen King.

The book the movie was based on is a Stephen King novel. It is not a true story.

No, but it is very similar to a story about a 14 year old boy named George Stinney who in louissiana in 1944 was falsely accused of killing and attempting to rape two white girls by an unjust jury and sent to the electric chair. He was also black. Like John Coffey.

I am not asking if the John Coffey character is a real person, I just wanted to know if there was a deliberately botched execution that was called upon to inspire Mr. King?
