Today for some reason I was sitting at my comp and I heard the song San Francisco by Scott McKenzie and it hit me;this music's really good. So I've gotten more into it today and I've got stuff like Mamas and the Papas, Jefferson Airplane, and Janis Joplin, etc. Could anyone give me more artists similiar to them from that era? Thanks.

Yes, that was some of the best music ever, for sure!

I've seen some good suggestions here, and some others that DIDN'T really fit into the genre to which you are referring, as well! I'd like to add a few more that DO fit that were very popular at the time, and yet are often overlooked today:

* The Byrds
* The Lovin' Spoonful
* Donovan
* Buffalo Springfield
* Young Rascals

I'd also like to make special mention of a '60s group called "Love". Although very obscure, they were a highly underrated band of the mid-late '60s "flower power" scene on the Sunset Strip. And although they were pioneers of the new music of the era, and "underground" sensations on the West Coast and L.A., in particular, and received a great deal of critical praise, they never had much commercial success elsewhere. This was partly due to the fact that they refused to go on tour to promote their music, and also, because the group broke up after only a few albums. Nevertheless, this band was LEGENDARY amongst those who really know and love the music of the early psychedelic era. Read their bio on allmusic.com. Their most popular hits were "Little Red Book", "7 and 7 Is", and my favorite, "Alone Again Or". DO check them out, I'm sure you'll like them!!!!

Check out some 60's era Pink Floyd (Astronime Domine, Bike, Arnold Layne, See Emily Play)! Also, you need some Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Greatful Dead, Buffalo Springfield, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, The Byrds, CCR, and The Doors. the 60's was an amazing era for music. Alot of the music from that time was protesting the Vietnam War, so if you Google something like "Vietnam Protest Songs" you can get some nice music.

The next great era was the early 70's, which was alot of the 60's bands but with new and evolving sounds. So check some 70's stuff out, too!
