I think that the San Diego Chargers will win the Super Bowl this season and I will tell you why. For the past couple of years the team that had the best record but didn't make the big game has won the Super Bowl the following year.

2004: Pittsburgh Steelers 15-1... Lost to Patriots, Super Bowl champs in 05

2005: Indianapolis Colts 14-2... Lost to Steelers, Super Bowl champs in 06

I mean granted its not a huge list but I do believe that its a growing trend. If the Chargers don't make it this year I'll shut my mouth and never speak of my theory again lol but if they do... I can't wait to see who has the best record this year but doesn't make it this year lol. I'm a Bears fan but I'm also a realist.

True, but those two teams didn't have the talent that San Diego does.

That sounds like pretty big praise from someone who's team gave themselves a shot to win the superbowl just a season ago by making the big dance.

I like the Chargers, unfortunately they don't have anyone at the WR position that is a top-notch threat, that puts a lot more pressure on Antonio Gates at TE, and of course LT. When it comes to facing a top-notch defense like will look to be, I don't think they match up well with one of the teams they could meet in the playoffs. I know the Ravens lost Adalius, but basically if you WR can't step up, your in for a long day against a team that a defense which has demonstrated that they can shutdown any running back in the league considering that they will bring back the majority of their personnel in 07.

Now of course if the offense sputters again, the Ravens could also lose another low scoring game in the playoffs (assuming they make it barring key injuries).

Case in point, the two teams that met in the AFC championship where the two more balanced offenses in the conference, New England and Indy. Yeah Indy is the pass attack kings, but Addai did give them a viable running game to keep opponants honest.

All in all I think the Chargers make the playoffs, I think the odds are against them of going to the superbowl until they show that their wide receivers can step up and bring balance to a running heavy team.

Your theory is interesting. And the Chargers do have a lot of talent. But I believe with the addition of Moss the Patriots are the team to beat.

the colts will,
they have the best quarterback in the game leading the best offense, i am biased, but even with all the players they lost on defense in the offseason, bob sanders will be back and healthy for a full season, nobody gets by him (and he puts the fear of God into you), the defense will return to their stout, sting form of 2005 and the colts will beat the patriots in the afc champ. game and who cares in the super bowl, the real championship is the afc game anyway.

Your theory is wrong because the Eagles are winning the Super Bowl this year.

I'm a Chargers fan and I have a hunch it would either be us or the Patriots (hoping for my team) and I'm sick and tired of seeing them win SB after SB.

Okay, I understand what records and stats say, but they don't prove anything. When it comes down to it, it's all about who's playing the best football when it matters most...in the playoffs!

Well, it's just a theory. I don't think the Bolts will win it all this year, but I think they will play in the AFC championship.
