If you're taking a science or engineering, do you have a resentment toward psychology, social sciences or humanities majors...because I do...is this common or normal?

I would call it common, unhealthy, naive, immature, and youthful. Only the anger part is unhealthy. With maturity, you may come to appreciate art and beauty. I hope so, because it can enrich your life immeasurably. You may not understand the social sciences, but they are necessary for the survival of society. Man needs to work at getting along with one another. You don't need to become good at it. Physics is much easier to understand than people. You can learn to spot someone who is a humanities major because they are really interested and excited about their field, and another who doesn't care about anything and humanities looks like an easy choice and you can spout nonsense and fool the school into granting you a degree (job ticket). You can pity the latter, but you needn't damage yourself with anger against them.

No--it is not normal. It is a sign that you should drop out of college and become a survivalist in the wilderness.

If people whose interests do not align with yours--and whom you suspect may be smarter than you are--make you angry, you should make an appointment at the counseling center and talk with a counselor about your feelings.

The anger you suggest is not good for you or for the others. If you spend your life characteristically being angry at people you don't understand, you're in trouble.

Disdain, in the strict sense, " beneath ones notice " is the proper response. They do have some areas of interest and validity, but they are rather infused with their own self importance. Ignoring them, unless they try to bury truth under ideology, is probably the best thing to do. Scientists are generally bemused by there posturings.

Do you realize that in asking this question, you are a social scientist? You are polling people to answer a question about society. Very clever. That would be reverse phsycology, which might lead you to ask another question.

Yep...we're opposites...it's the way things are. We're about what you can't see or really touch...immaterial crap...and you're about REAL stuff...we live in two different states of mind...
