I am being charged with some misdemeanors of domestic violence, but I had already bought $2500 tickets to go to Australia to visit colleges and short vacation. After my arraignment, can I just call for continuance and make it back in time for my court date and be fine?

Oh yeah no problem. The court is always willing to wait so that offenders can have their vacations before being brought to justice. NOT!!! Looks like you may have to postpone your trip. Sucks to be you.

Probably not. Speak with your attorney about this. It may be possible to make such arrangements, but NOT likely.
