There is a site with such a "movement" - it's the first one in my sources. Great idea!

I agree with javypeds. Holding office has bennies. Human nature means that you would swap one set of self serving politicians for another.
I think electing an independent in the next presidential elections could go a long way in reforming the political profession in both parties. We've had bad presidents before (Jimmy Carter, G.W. Bush) so can an independent do any worse? In the end, maybe it will give the two big parties something to think about.
The only thing Democrats and Republicans seem to think about is how to stay in office and how to legally or illegally reap the rewards of office.

That is what needs to be done. Unfortunately there are about 25% or so that are doing a great job. These are the ones in the minority that do not get any media coverage.
If we could get some true conservatives and some libs that are not interested in partisan pols and they would all work together, I would be all for it. The problem is that the majority needs to be of the same pol party as the President in order to get anything done. The days of nonpartisan politics as in the Reagan era are over.

I love the idea but to accomplish what we want we also would need people from all walks of life to run for those seats.
Who better that a teacher to have some good ideas about how to fix education.
The same is true with police officers, doctors and farmers.
They all could have good ideas on how to confront the problems that they deal with daily.
We need less lawyers in office and more people that have built things, grown food, cured the sick or balanced their check book.
If we were to do this we could not only get rid of corruption in congress but also start to fix the many issues that face this nation.

To get rid of the corruption you would have to get rid of the House and Senate. Lets keep the office of the president and us people will make/vote on laws through online voting.

I agree that both parties ARE corrupt but wiping all the entire government will not solve anything. Sooner or later, you will have a new group of power-hungry, greedy and lying politicians. Unfortunately, that's human nature and that is politics - a VERY dirty business. It is up to us, the voters and citizens, to elect people who will truly represent the citizens and their needs.
