It all depends on what the reason is. If they hold a position that involves international correspondence, then their job security should be enough incentive. However, if they don't want to learn another language and they live in an English-speaking country (America, England, etc.) then they don't have to you really can't convince them to.

First, why would you ask this question in the Finance section??
Second, who do you think you are to want to convince someone to do something??
Third, the answer is "make it worth their while" (intrinsically or extrinsically).
Examples of sufficient motivation are:
> pay them - well [capitalist]
> make their job depend on it [fascist]
> move them to that other country [communist?]
> put multilingual TV stations on the air - in Holland you get 5 or 6 languages on TV (but who's going to pay for that? why?) [multiculturalism]
> have the BRIK countries take over the world economy [realist?]
> lose a war, learn a language [terrorist comes to mind]

You shouldn't try to convince anyone to do anything...Just share the benefits with them...it's THEIR decision to learn another language or not...it's NOT your responsibility to get them to do it.

people will not do anything unless it has value to them. you need to show them that foreign languages have value in their daily lives.
