And has he said anything about the Kobe situation?
I know his return to coaching has a lot to do with his health but what are the odds he'll retire just to get out of the mess the Lakers are in right now?
And how has he managed to be so quiet about what's going on with Kobe? He said a couple of months ago that he was sure Kobe would stay in LA but that was the last I heard. How are he and Kobe getting along these days? Has Kobe said anything publicly about Jackson? Anybody know?

Definitely, Phil Jakson will be back next year to coach the Los Angeles Lakers. Reason, he still has a year left in his contract that pays him at least 10 million next season. As to Kobe, he knows and respect Phil Jackson as a very good coach and can only do as much to guiding the Lakers in winning games. Kobe is criticizing the Lakers management because he's no longer in the spotlight with the Lakers failing for the second straight year to get pass the first round playoff losing both times to the Phoenix Suns. He complained about not getting the supporting casts that Jerry Buss and Mitch Kupchak promised him when he resigned with the Lakers. With O'neal getting a championship with Miami and Lebron James Cleveland Cavalier making it to the NBA finals, Kobe is being relegated to the sideline. Lebrons James being more on the headlines is something Kobe cannot take. So what do Kobe do to get attention to himself is to make a noise to get his names on the headline no matter what. As to whether he will play for the Los Angeles Lakers next season. His contract stipulated he have to play and he only has the option to end or continue the contract after that season end. Unless some NBA teams is willing the buyout Kobe remaining season with the Lakers, he will be with the Lakers for one more year. And if Kobe will play for the Lakers, he will still play his best under any circumstances, he is not the type of person that sourgrape. With his pride, he would rather be playing his best basketball even on the losing end. Also he better play his best with the money he's getting from the contract and the commercials he's endorsing, I don't think he can't accept the fact of losing both.

I believe he will, if his health permits him to. Obviously having Kobe on the team would increase his likelihood of returning, but I think he also wants to build a legacy for himself and hush the naysayers that say he's only successful because he had the star players. If for no other reason, he may just finish the one remaining year in his contract to appease his girlfriend and Lakers executive, Jeannie Buss.

I believe he and Kobe are getting along quite well. It has been reported in many articles that Phil has been a calming influence on Kobe, especially when he went on that radio tour a few weeks ago. Phil has also been in Kobe's "inner circle of trust" and I believe Kobe takes Phil's opinions to heart.

I think that the Lakers should trade Phil Jackson, Kobe Bryant and Jack Nicholson to KCC in the South Korean league for four pieces of fried chicken and a bucket of Kimchee. Probably KCC would be getting the worst of the deal.

If I were Phil Jackson, I would not stay in LA if they keep Kobe. Kobe is NOT a leader and cannot lead a team to the championship. He will only serve to frustrate Jackson and LA. I think it's stupid for them to rest their hopes for a championship on Kobe. He's a fantastic one- man show, but as a team player he simply stinks! It takes the whole team to win a trophy!

I guess Phil will still coach the Lakers if Kobe is still on their side.

There's really no way to know, and anyone who says differently is just speculating. But my guess, at least with regard to Kobe, is that he's on the Lakers next year.

Phil is dating Geinie buss, the daughter of the owner and
the team operations manager. So yes he is coming back.

Also he has said that is it his unshaken believe that Kobe
will be back next year in a Laker uniform.

I would not count on it, he has pissed of alot of fans here in
LA. Tide is truning, and people are seeing him as the jerk
he is.

Yes, and nothing of substance. He's just playing coy and standing back, waiting to see what happens. He's more concerned about Jeannie Buss, who's his sweetie.
