Shorty, in Black lingo, was originally a term commonly used in 60's Chicago by pimps to indicate their "broads" on the boulvard. The generic term for pimps was "SLIM"; for hookers, "SHORTY/SHAWTY". If I wanted to get the attention of a walker, then I would bark - "say shawty, lemmie holla atcha"
