I heard on the news a issue relating to three Nigerian nationals who managed to embezzel 12,000,000 from bank one. They sent most of the money to Nigeria and BankOne did not recover it.
Do you think that immigrants illegal or legal that commit crimes and are convicted should be made to serve their sentences in their original country? Or should they serve time in America on American soil, on American tax dollars?

They should be deported, PERIOD. Illegal criminals cost us even more money by having to pay for their 3 meals a day and roof over their heads, which a good portion of law-abiding citizens don't even get. They need to be deported so we can take care of our OWN "poor, tired, huddled masses."

Even legal aliens who commit sever crimes will be arrested and jailed here upon finishing their term they are deported, with there ability to stay in America permanently revoked.
As for illegals they too should be jailed here in America. Why is that because they get deported and turn around are back here next week without ever paying for the crime they committed. So in actually there was no punishment for the crime what's to stop them from committing it again?

It really depends on the relationship between the US and the home country. Some cooperate with the US and some don't. I the case of those that don't, the convict typically stays in the US to serve their sentence.
This has become a sore subject because the US taxpayers are footing the bill! Sadly there isn't an easy answer...

I think they should serve their sentence in the country in which they committed the crime, and deported upon release. Of course, some countries won't agree to accept convicted felons which raises yet another problem. What does our government do when the released felon can't be deported?

I read it can cost 10's of thousands of dollars a year per inmate, considering the number of illegal imagrants that come to the states and commit crimes, I don't believe this would be economically possible, and probably best to have the country in which they originate take that burdon.

Not everything that is illegal here, in fact many, most things that are illegal here are not in most places in the world and this is why we have the highest incarceration rate of any country and culture in the world. We in the Victorian, Anglo-Saxon world, especially the Anglo-American wing of it must adjust our paradigm regarding sex, the drug laws first to accommodate the rest of the world that we live in and to benefit ourselves. Also, once we understand that prison is not the answer to everything, in fact it is rarely the answer. Only perhaps when dealing with the most anti-social and violent offenders. By doing this we will find also, secondarily that problems such as these will alleviate themselves.

If they get sent back to their country of origin to serve their sentence, there is no way we can control whether they get released or not when they get there. They should serve their time here and then get deported when/if they get out.

Deported. Immediately. With absolutely nothing other than the clothes on their back.

They should be deported no questions asked. These people are NOT U.S. citizens therefore they should not be entitled to protections guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. These criminals should not even be entitled to enter U.S. Prisons where OUR tax money is spent feeding them. They don't deserve it.
