Ron Blomberg of the Yankees.
Not at all a difficult one; it's well-known.
Far more challenging is to name the first NATIONAL LEAGUE designated hitter.
It was Dan Driessen of the Cincinnati Reds in Game 1 of the 1976 World Series. Despite being played in the NL park, the DH was used in the Series for the first time in '76, and alternated year by year until 1985 (which was a no-DH year). Starting in 1986, the DH was used only in the AL parks, which has been the format ever since.
The first NL DH in interleague play was Glenallen Hill of the visiting Giants as the Rangers hosted the first IL game on 12-June-1997. Hill went 0-3 with one RBI (sac fly) as the Giants won, 4-3. There were three other IL games on that first day, all in AL parks on the west coast, and so they started later.

Ron Blomberg. I knew that years ago, just like most of us here. Try asking trivia that hasn't been asked here 10,000 times here on Yahoo.
