Side note: In my dream it was like I wanted to help them--like prevent them from dying or something, or grieving at a person's death even if I didn't know the guy. I never really got to see my friend Ben die (he died of leukemia), but in my dream, I did--I saw how he died. Ever since he died, I feel like I wanna stop everyone from dying, if possible--to do anything I can to save them. I DO believe in God, mind you. Should I have a ministry regarding the dying? Somehow, I feel a sort of ambivalence toward the idea of working among the dying.

It is tough to work among the dying, specially if you are particularly sensitive. Dreams usually, but not always, reflect our fears. Sometimes dreams also reflect our innermost desires and wishes. In your case, your helplessness at preventing the death of someone made you dream of something that would have been the more desirable outcome.

On the other hand, some dreams can be a way of "knowing" what goes on in a different dimension--the after life. If you have a history of psychic communication, this can sometimes be the case.

But the bottom line is: you need to be aware of your fears and your deeply seated desires. This way, you will be in control.

I think that you are only ruminating about Ben and wishing that you could have somehow helped him during his final days.

That is normal. We all need to be concerned with supporting efforts to make dying with dignity a priority for everyone.

But, dying is as much a part of life as living. We cannot eliminate that process. We can and should accept it as a consequence of the life cycle which is inherent in every living thing.

I'm sorry for your loss. I come from a large family and have had way to many loved ones die. Here is a site by Deirdre Barrett, Ph.D., of Harvard Medical School with some statistics: http://members.tripod.com/~rickcw50/ed4-6ree.htm

Here is an insightful article from Geocities Dream book: http://www.geocities.com/hairybobby2000/dreamessaydeath.html

For me, dreams of the dead and dying were a comfort because I knew I would always have the memories. Bless you, dear.

it means that you are afraid of death. You do not beleive in god, and yet. you know, that you some day might have to face him. Indeed, my friend, Some day, you will like the rest of us, face God in Judgement. You may see that fact as a whole lot of years in the future, but those days will come.
