Is it the decision of the person who is being filmed? Is it my right to say "Hey, I dont' want my face shown if that is going on TV". If that is true, does anyone know what law that would be? I was watching Little People Big World and saw the stupidist thing. Matt was speaking to a large group of people at a school and the camera panned over to show them all. Three people in the third row (could hardly see them at all) had they faces blurred and nobody else. How stupid and my question is WHY????

The people being filmed must grant a release to use their images. If they don't then the show cannot show their face or identify them.

I may be way off base here, but I think the reason for blurring out the face on some subjects is perhaps the age difference, if you're an adult your face can be shown, but if you're under age. You're protected by the law.

Yes, it it up to the persson. Unless you have already been convicted of the crime that is being highlighted. So, if you are just an innocent bystander, they need your signature for a broadcast---do not confuse this with live news broadcast, I am speaking of exactly the above--their parents probably did not want their children exposed.. I'm not the CEO of Fox, but this is how I understood how it went. Take Care, and SMILE FOR THE CAMERA!!

They probably have to contact the director of the show and tell them specifically to blur their face out. It's not a "stupid" thing to do-some people don't want to be on tv, that's all.

Those that are blurred out did not consent to having their faces shown. It really is that simple.

Yes, the individual must agree. Some are so excited about getting their 15 seconds of fame, they agree to it even tho they said or did the stupidest thing. People are fascinating creatures.

Sometimes they are under age or putting them on camera if there innocent could result in a law suit. Sometimes their just bystanders.
