In the US, we don't use the "u", in the UK, Australia, and Canada, they do. Same meaning, different spelling. Same goes for "color/colour" and for the letters s/z, like in the word "realize/realise."

I think it is all in the Geography...I am from the South so we are going to say and spell things a little differently, not that all the things that we spell are in the dictionary though. If you are from the North or West you might say it another way.
