My high school team had time and stroke requirements. We had an info meeting and then try-outs and second-round calls and then the team was posted. I recall having to swim a 100 of each stroke and we also had to choose a distance event and a sprint stroke for time trials. It will depend on the school and at what division or level they compete. It will also depend on numbers, sometimes teams are restricted in size and therefore they only take swimmers who are able to complete certain requirements. Usually all of this is covered at the info meeting at the beginnig of the school year. If it is not, or you want the info sooner, contact your coach or the athletic director at your high school and ask. That way when the time comes you won't be surprised.

Good luck!

Well usually with High school swimming. You just join. Although if your high school is different. Practice, Practice, Practice. You SWIM! Make sure you know and know how to do all four strokes breast stroke, back stroke, freestyle, and butterfly or at least have a strong knowledge about them. While practicing with your high school swim team you should be working on endurance and improving your techinnque. So dont worry about being the best. You should be fine. Don't worry. I always have a great time when highschool swim season comes around!

There was no requirment to for my high school team, but I going to say for most high schools it is going to be something like: be able to swim a 200 or 500 without stopping. Your best bet would be to ask the coach if there is a try out or something like that, so you know what you need to do to join the team.
