1. Refuse to be sidetracked.
2. Gather supplies: 2 large boxes, marker pen, garbage bags.
3. Throw everything out of place onto your bed.
4. Put away the stuff on the bed one thing at a time. Once iced up, don't put it down. Divide all into groups of similar stuff.
5. Label 1 box "give" (goes to the thrift store) and the other "hold (goes in the garage."
6. Put trash (pure trash and things not good enough to give away or keep) in garbage bags.
7. Pile dirty clothes outside your door.
8. Hang clothes in the closet sorted by color or type of clothing (shirts, pants, skirts, etc.)
9. Label shelves and drawers according to the piles on y our bed.
10. Subdivide shelves and drawers with shoe boxes to hold socks, unders, etc. LATER (not now) you can cover the boxes with some funky wrapping paper.
11. When bed is cleared, add dirty bedding to the dirty clothes in the hall.
12. Put fresh linens on the bed.
13. Dust going clockwise around the room; use furniture polish if you have it to keep dust from flying up and settling back down.
14. Clean mirror and glass things.
15. Vacuum.
16. Put cleaning supplies away.
17. Sort clothes and sheets, and put a load in the washer.
18. Take a wonderfully long, hot shower.

Now it will be easier to keep your room from getting totally trashed. Just do this more often and use the system you devised.

Just remember, you are the only one to clean it. You are making your own mess, soooo...put things away immediately, hang up clothes, put dirty clothes in a hamper, etc.
