Gays and lesbians should be able to marry just like heterosexuals. Anything less than marriage means they would be considered different from mainstream society. If they love each other and want to make the commitment of getting married, no one gets hurt if they marry! It does not "endanger the institution of marriage" - it strengthens it. "Separate but equal" is not equal.

Hasn't the Government done enough damage? No they shouldn't have the right to determine who can or can not get married. As for the "Christian doctrines" this country was founded on...it was founded on FREEDOM OF RELIGION that means the Religous Right and the Christian Coalition doesn't get to run the U.S. the PEOPLE do. Christianity was NOT the first religion practiced here. The Natives practiced (and still do) a Pagan religion based of the earth and nature. Those who came across to the U.S. were not solely Christians. Some were Muslims, Some were Pagans and those who were manning the oars were far for "good Christians" They were rapists and murderers who were allowed their freedom if they worked as oarsmen on the ships. Get your nose out of your highschool history books and check out the REAL history of this country.

i could care less if a gay couple got married or not. what pisses me off is that the GOVERNMENT is saying that it is unHOLY, and that the bible says that it is immoral, but in the same breath they say that you need to keep the church and the state separate. why don't they just make up their minds once and for all. i think that really all they want is for their rights to be as recognized just like a straight couple's rights are recognized. they also say that by not letting homosexuals marry, they are protecting the scanty of marriage. if that is the case, then they shouldn't let celebrities get married either. my sister and her partner have been together for almost ten faithful, monogamous years, yet they let people like brittany spears get married and it lasts for 55 drunk hours. that is very sad.

i feel the government needs to just back off and let it go through. i mean when they deny us that right we always wanna know why. the reason they give more times than not is that it goes against the bible. OK but the bible is religion and the government is the government. the two are not supposed to be conjoined in such a fashion. its quite ridiculous.

this should not be open for debate nor should the government or anyone else have any say as to wether it should take place. people are people. plain and simple. wether they're the same gender or not, shouldn't matter.

They don't deserve the title of marriage, but no one has the right to interfere with another's pursuit of happiness as long as it is not damaging others or society.
All law is to uphold society -- above the individual -- so this is premier.

NO! THEY ARE NOT THE DEFINITION OF CANDIDATES FOR MARRIAGE.
AS FOR 'CIVIL RIGHTS', LOOK AT THE CHRISTIAN DOCTRINES THAT THIS COUNTRY WAS FOUNDED ON AND IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. THEY NEED TO GO TO A NON-CHRISTIAN OR NON-CARING COUNTRY AND GET MARRIED. DON'T CHANGE AMERICA....CHANGE YOUR LOCATION.

The prophet Jeremiah said in Jeremiah 10:23: “I well know, O Jehovah, that to earthling man his way does not belong. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.”
Mankind was never made to rule independently of Jehovah God. In fact, “it does not belong.” If mankind cannot direct their own steps, then how can they make a decision such as whether or not homosexuals should have the same rights as heterosexual couples? Remember, it was only 10-20 years ago that mankind said homosexuality was detestable. With that said, priests who have sex with boys is detestable. Pedophiles that have sex with young girls are detestable. A married man or woman who seeks sexual satisfaction outside of his or her marriage arrangement is detestable. Bestiality also is considered a detestable act. Note, there are no levels of detestable acts. A detestable act is a detestable act.
It has only been within the last five to ten years that homosexuality is becoming part of the main culture. Yes, those very same ones who could not stand homosexuality 10-20 years ago have changed their minds and even make others think that it is acceptable. Who decided that? When? Was it mankind? God? Who? If something that was detestable can easily become acceptable, why not make pedophiles having sex with girls, priests having sex with boys, wife or husband have sex with those other than their mate and bestiality acceptable? The decision of man to make the detestable acceptable is seriously flawed. Again, who decided that homosexuality is no longer detestable, but acceptable? How can something so detestable become acceptable? You cannot say bestiality is disgusting if you are for homosexuality or vice versa since both of these things are considered detestable. Once detestable, always detestable. Society should never determine one’s mind to change because they will deem anything acceptable if you just give them time.
Issues involving civil rights and legal recognition are often very complicated and divide public opinion. True Christians are careful to maintain neutrality by avoiding political debates. (John 17:16) Still, some who respect the Bible find themselves confused regarding the subject of same-sex marriage and homosexuality. How do you view same-sex marriage? What is God’s standard for marriage? What impact does your attitude have on your relationship with God?
Our Creator Jehovah God clearly sets the standard in this regard. Jehovah established rules governing marriage long before governments began regulating the institution. The opening book of the Bible tells us: “A man will leave his father and his mother and he must stick to his wife and they must become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24) The Hebrew word “wife,” according to Vine’s Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words, “connotes one who is a female human being.” Jesus confirmed that those yoked together in marriage should be “male and female.” (Matthew 19:4)
Full Verse of Matthew 19:4: “In reply he said: “Did YOU not read that he who created them from [the] beginning made them male and female.”
Thus, God intended marriage to be a permanent and an intimate bond between a man and a woman. Men and women are designed to complement each other so they may be capable of satisfying each other’s emotional, spiritual, and sexual needs and desires.
The well-known Biblical account of Sodom and Gomorrah reveals God’s feelings about homosexuality. God declared: “The cry of complaint about Sodom and Gomorrah, yes, it is loud, and their sin, yes, it is very heavy.” (Genesis 18:20) The extent of their sinful depravity at that time was apparent when two guests visited the righteous man Lot. “The men of Sodom . . . surrounded the house, from boy to old man, all the people in one mob. And they kept calling out to Lot and saying to him: ‘Where are the men who came in to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have intercourse with them.’” (Genesis 19:4, 5) The Bible says: “The men of Sodom were bad and were gross sinners against Jehovah.” (Genesis 13:13.)
The men became “violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males.” (Romans 1:27) They had “gone out after flesh for unnatural use.” (Jude 7) In countries where homosexual rights campaigns are pervasive, some may object to using the word “unnatural” to describe homosexual behavior. However, is not God the final arbiter when it comes to nature? He commanded his ancient people: “You must not lie down with a male the same as you lie down with a woman. It is a detestable thing.” (Leviticus 18:22)
The Bible is clear: God does not approve of or condone homosexual practices. He also disapproves of people who “consent with those practicing them.” (Romans 1:32) And “marriage” cannot give homosexuality a cloak of respectability. God’s direction that “marriage be honorable among all” precludes homosexual unions, which he considers detestable. (Hebrews 13:4) Still, with God’s help, anyone can learn to “abstain from fornication,” which includes homosexual acts, and “get possession of his own vessel in sanctification and honor.” (1 Thessalonians 4:3, 4)
Romans 1:26, 27: “That is why God gave them up to disgraceful sexual appetites, for both their females changed the natural use of themselves into one contrary to nature; and likewise even the males left the natural use of the female and became violently inflamed in their lust toward one another, males with males, working what is obscene and receiving in themselves the full recompense, which was due for their error.” One of the key words in this scripture is WORKING WHAT IS OBSCENE.” Yes, Jehovah said homosexuality was obscene and therefore destroyed a whole city.
Jude 7: “So too Sod´om and Go•mor´rah and the cities about them, after they in the same manner as the foregoing ones had committed fornication excessively and gone out after flesh for unnatural use, are placed before [us] as a [warning] example by undergoing the judicial punishment of everlasting fire.
Therefore, should this subject be even debatable? No, because Jehovah God sets the standard. Additionally, he never approved of this practice. Malachi 3:6: “For I am Jehovah; I have not changed.” Jehovah God, unlike us, does not change just because of the times we live in to condone things such as homosexuality. He has always hated homosexuality. It was always an obscene thing to him since the beginning. Jehovah’s view has not change and it will never change. Not politics, not society, not anything will make Jehovah change his mind and accept homosexuality. Nor should we. It is non-debatable.
