~I have a long list of favorites but I'll share these with you:
1. Gabriel Garcia Marquez (One Hundred Years of Solitude)
2. Albert Camus (The Stranger)
3. Ayn Rand (Fountainhead)
4. Hermann Hesse (Siddhartha)
5. Fyodor Dostoevsky (Crime and Punishment)
6. Thomas Merton (The Seven Storey Mountain)
7. John Steinbeck (Grapes of Wrath)
Come to think of it, the list is almost endless. There are a lot of great writers out there, both past and present.
By the way, who are some of YOUR favorite authors?

Chuck Palahniuk, Adam Rapp, Margaret Buffie, J.K. Rowling, Joey Comeau and JT Leroy. Oh and Lemony Snicket.
But in all honesty Chuck Palahniuk has been my favorite author before the Fight Club movie even came out and I have read all of his books hundreds of times, he is an amazing writer :)

Since I love to read so many different genres, I cannot pinpoint one single author as my favorite. However, I have probably read the most of Stephen King since I have read pretty much every one of his books (some great and some not so great). "The Dark Tower Series" is excellent and is one of my favorites by far!
