hypothetically speaking, your in a situation where you have to choose one life for the fate of all mankind, e.g. you have to kill a person (not of your choosing and not yourself) to save evryones life. is it right to kill that one for the many? *i convince myself that it would be right but then thought of the prospect of having to kill, say a little crying girl and now i think i couldnt. im not sure if the lives of everone else would justify hers?*

I would never kill anyone. If I did, it would be purely by accident. Coming up with justifications is just that -- a justification.

Despite all the "reasons" not to kill, I don't have a reason to kill anyone. I cannot say the same for others. Some people think they have a reason, or a good reason to kill others.

Choosing not to kill, is, well, a choice that I've made. You can choose otherwise.

Interesting question. Some would think that killing one evil person to save a good person is a right thing to do. But I would think a bit differently.

In my opinion, the action itself to kill is wrong, but the result to save an innocent, or good person is right. If one can say that he or she kills for the goodness of humanity, then there shall be a lot of killing going on in this world because anyone can say that they kill for the right reason. So the action of killing or taking away lives whether it is yours or others is always wrong.

Why should we cut short the life of one person for the many? We will all have to die sooner or later. If the purpose is only to save the lives of other people, it would be a killing in vain, for it would only serve to prolong the inevitable. I would not kill a person for the reason you have stated.

It's a lot easier to kill an ugly, evil looking middle aged man than it is to kill a little girl...even if you knew she would grow up to ruin the world. It's really a question of your values. Some people would have no problem doing it, I myself would leave the heroics to someone else.

sad question with all the aborted fetuses....someone may have already killed a doctor that could have found a cure for cancer...killing is wrong, regardless as how common place it is becoming ...with every killing in some way we are becoming weaker, we are becoming numb, complacent we are being brainwashed to be peons of powers of governments that care only for our tax dollars and only enough to keep us alive to feed their masses and keep them in luxury

If you wouldn't kill that one person, you are in a way killing all of the others...

Would circumstances really lead up to that? Anyway, humans need other humans to survive so, hard as it might be, it would be right to sacrifice the girl.

Interesting question but, I think, naive. We don't know what we would do until we do it. Often we surprise ourselves with the choices we make...esp. choices we have to make in split seconds. That is truly when we learn what our priorities/moralities are.

I believe your question is well intentioned but moot.
