I'm a Red Sox fan awaiting the inevitable Yankee comeback. If they came back from 15 behind, would that break the record?

The 1914 Boston Braves were 15.5 games behind the New York Giants on July 19th and came back to win the pennant. Amazingly, they had a 10.5 game lead at the end of the season! They went on to win the World Series, sweeping the Philadelphia Athletics in four games. As a side note, this was the first sweep in World Series history.

You may rest now. The Yankees are DEAD, FINISHED, OUT OF IT for this year. Even those who believe in the myth that they will come back, realize their pitching is desperately poor. Clemens has already lost two of the three games he started, and Mussina can't get the ball over the plate. The others are non-descript. Their lineup is filled with over paid prima donnas who are not performing. They are a bunch of players, NOT a team. Relax and enjoy the Red Sox!!

Chow!!

I had heard on Sportscenter that the record was 14 games back, and I believe it was the Angels who came back in the early 90s.

(By historical memory recall) the Phils of 1964 had a 7 game lead with 10 to play and finished 3rd behind the Cards and Reds.

Try eating that one for breakfast.
