Sure, from a 55-year-old guy who has been driving since age 16!!

1. ALWAYS wear your seatbelt.
Reason; MOST accidents happen when someone hits your car from the side, or back. YOU NEVER SEE THE ACCIDENT COMING.l I have had 6 major crashes, none my fault., 5 major crashes, my fault.

Driving along; WHAM, your car is toast.

2. Drive the speed of the other cars. If they are going 78 in a 65 mph zone, go 78. If you go 65, the other cars will cut around you and SOMEONE will hit your car trying to pass you.
Two of my accidents....

3. WHEN you blow a tire - and you WILL!!, especially the front tires, keep your foot on the gas pedal, slowly merge to the right and go slower and slower until you stop

DO NOT slam on the brake pedal. IF you do, your car will LUNGE into the direction of the blown tire. And your car will flip and/or crash - BADLY.

4. Buy RAIN-X at stores like Walmart. AND USE IT. This makes rain roll of your windows. On terrible rain storms, you will be able to see while you drive.

5. On your outside mirrors, buy those round mirrors that stick on. They ELIMINATE blind spots on the sides of your cars. NO MATTER where someone is along side of you - YOU WILL SEE THEM!!

6. Save your money on window tint. The car will still be just as hot. The heat is infrared, not visible light. Window tint does not filter out infrared.

7. Remember, it is just a car!! Do not spend money on fancy radios, gps, leather custom interior, paint jobs, etc. ALL cars have to be thrown away after 6-10 years. They just need too many repairs.

I have had 3 cars that I customized. One blew an engine. It cost more for the engine than the entire car; GONE!! One was totaled in a head-on crash, GONE!! And one I gave to my secretary because she had 5 kids, no husband. She traded in the car 3 months later for a new car (??) of which was repo-ed 1 month later because she could not afford the payments. Go figure!!

Now I have NO emotional attachment to ANY car. I know; 6-10 years, it will be gone, too...

No, you're not pathetic. I'm 19, and because of my knee surgeries over the past few years, I never got my license. After I completely recover and am able to get better movement in my right leg, I want to start practicing driving so that I can get a license.

Personally, I think I'm at a better age to get a license. At 16, I was more of a, for lack of a better word, moron. I know I wasn't ready for the responsiblity of driving, and then when I was, all my knee problems started. Plus, I know that if I can drive in my city (Springfield, Mo.) then I can pretty much drive anywhere. This town is full of hicks who, by some miracle, were able to get there license. I think that they should at least raise the driving age to 18. Good luck on getting your license!

No, I didn't have my license until I was 18. And I know a couple people who didn't have theirs until 19 and 20. I know plenty more who don't have their permit/license at all. Go at your own pace.

Practice driving in a parking lot until you are ready to conquer the roads. If you'd feel better practicing when it is not too busy, I'd suggest doing so while people are at work or school (9-11 am is good.) Make sure you practice with someone who is gentle and will help you. I know a lot of people get dirving instructors to learn. So, if you can do so, you might try that.

Just be careful, and make sure to look out for yourself, as well as the next driver. Don't make any decisions that will surely cause harm to anyone out there. Make sure you leave in enough time to get wherever you need to go, eliminating the need to speed.

Most importantly, don't try and compare yourself to other, experienced drivers. Everyone learns at their own pace, and people out there who have anything to say about your driving need to take a look at themselves and remember how they were at their point in their life. I hope you get your license, but don't rush it!!! :*)

I was 21 when I got mine and I had my grandmother driving me around.

Tips:
- Dont panic.
- Relax
- Listen to what you told.
- All way remember your blinker
- Drive every chance you get.

Thats all I did. Passed my test with 93% (I failed parallel parking cause I did put my blinker on.)

P.S If you dont like someones driving ask them if you can drive. Gets you practice and you feel more comfortable because your in control.

You must live someplace with a great transit system because when I was 15 I couldn't wait to get a license.

I was like you. I thought I'd never get mine. What you need to do is figure out all the stuff your doing wrong and figure out the right way to do it. If I knew that I would have gotten mine alot faster. When you finally do take your test don't be nervous. Nervous is bad.

I didn't get mine 'till I was 18. Always pay attention to the road, not just what's immediatly in front of you, but all around. Be aware of your surroundings. Don't forget your directionals! Relax, don't speed too much~
