Gourami's are relatively peaceful. He won't hurt the cichlid, though, don't worry. Once they settle down, they'll stay away from each other. Gourami's spend most of their time in the upper part of the tank while the cichlid will hang out at the mid-level or bottom.

I am unable to find specific info about these two together. I have two golds and they are both a bit territorial.
The link below seemed to have a mix of opinions. I think it may be a personality conflict, maybe you could trade the aggressor for a different one?

I just had a very bad experience with these beautiful fish. And they ARE NOT PEACEFUL! This fish nearly tore an entire fin
off my Gorgeous Electric Blue Jack Dempsey. I had it in my tank for 10 days and it wreaked havoc!, claiming the bottom of a 20 gallon tank, with only the two of them in it! My poor Jack became sick from the stress and began to get serious fin damage so I returned the Lemon Yellow A seriously aggressive and teritorial fish.

Electric yellows are peaceful compared to most other African cichlids. Despite this, like all cichlids from Lake Malawi, they are best kept in specialist cichlid aquariums. When kept with freshwater community aquarium species such Zebra Danios or Neon Tetras, they may nip the finnage of other species, and are not recommended for freshwater community aquariums.

The Three spot gourami is a hardy fish.[3] This species can be housed with a variety of tank mates that are of similar size and temperament. While males can be territorial with each other, they become timid around other, more aggressive fish.[3] The ideal tank set-up would be an aquarium of a minimum of 20 gallons and have plenty of live plants as well as rocks and driftwood for use as hiding places.

Gouramis do not belong to the cichlid family, they are a type of labyrinth fish meaning that they have an extra organ in their heads that allows them to store oxygen for periods of time making them a little more resiliant to polluted waters that they come from in the wild, which does not mean you should slack on take cleaning by the way.
Yes, gold gouramis can be moderately aggressive as cichlids can be too, however, "electric yellows" are especially peaceful for cichlids.
Also, African cichlids and gouramis really do not mix! They each require very different water conditions and ph! I would highly recommend keeping your guarami(s) in a seperate tank with a ph of around 7.0 and keep your African cichlids in their own tank with other Africans ONLY at a ph of around 8.2. I also highly recommend doing more research on your gouramis and African cichlids to find out more about the needs and compatibility of these wonderful fish!
Happy fish keeping!

Not much I can add to ash's answer which is correct in everyway, I would like to point out that Gourami's are fairly Territorial and as in this case the fact that the Cichlid is a similar colour is the reason it needs to attack it.
