It can happen in dogs. They release many eggs, and any number of male dogs that successfully mated with the female can father a puppy from the litter.

It can also occur in humans. A woman can be pregnant with 2 babies that have different fathers.

Yes there can be two fathers to one litter of dogs. The sperm takes a while to get to the eggs to fertilize them so if an additional breeding of a different dog occurs than yes there can be two different fathers to one litter of puppies.

Absolutly yes!! We have a puppy that came from a breeder who had two males and one of the males sneeked in when no one was looking and got the female maltese after she had been bred with the male maltese. The whole litter were maltese puppies except one cutie pie who was a papillion-maltese! She is our puppie. She has a mixture of papillion/maltese ears (bigger than maltese, but they lay down) and the maltese disposition, papillion markings, and her hair is more like the papillions hair. She was such a sweet thing, that the breeder has bred the ***** with the sneaky father since then and has been selling the designer pups because they are the absolute cutest and best dispositioned dogs in the world!

not only is it possible in DOGS, but ANY animal that (through mutation) has more then one reproductive system....I know this for a fact because I have that problem MYSELF.... I was told by MANY gynecologists that since my duel uteri are separate and each has it's own set of ovaries and tubes, I COULD very well get pregnant, carry that baby to full term, and get pregnant days, weeks or MONTHS later and carry THAT baby to full term also...sounds freaky, but it is absolutely true.... I am now 56 years old and would NOT BS about something like this... this mutation CAN happen in other animals as well...which would give THEM the ability to get pregnant by two different fathers as well---even at different times...

I believe this is possible. If a female has just been inpregnated by one dog, she is still in heat and can mate with another dog.

Both dogs sire young in the litter. But this is probably not very good for the mother.

It's dogs that can have more than one father for a single litter.

YES! Ignore anyone that says no. There can't be two fathers for one pup obviously, but more than one dog can impregnate a female dog.

A litter of puppies can't have more than one father because dogs are very territorial animals, even more so in mating season and they compete for mates.
