Omega = 2 pi radians (one turn) / 12 hours, obviously
Omega is the speed of rotation (angle/time)
The true speed v is given by :
v = omega * r (17 cm)
This gives :
v = 2.47 10^-5 meter / second
Or, roughly :
v = 25 micrometers / second

Hope it helps!

The tip of the hour hand would trace a circle with circumference 2*pi*r over the course of one hour.

v = 2*pi*17cm/1 hour
v = 106.76 cm/hour

to figure per minute, divide by 60
106.76 cm/60 min = 1.78 cm/min

Angular velocity , w , = 2π / 60 radians / min
Linear velocity = wr
= (2π/60) x 17 cm / min
= 1.78 cm / min
