Ever watch a Red Sox game when they're playing on the road? A couple of weeks ago they were in Phoenix playing against the Diamondbacks, and I swear that the Red Sox fans in attendance at Chase Field outnumbered D-backs fans by 2 to 1. Even some of the D-back players were complaining about this to the media.

Today they were playing against the Padres in San Diego and it looks as though there were slightly more Red Sox fans than Padres fans.

The Red Sox (pound for pound) have a higher percentage of fan support during road games than any other ballclub...is there something magical about this team that endears them to the common American?

True dat. Absolutely everyone was rooting for them in 2004 to beat the Yankees then win the World Series. I love and I'm not even a big fan of them. They're America's team. YANKEES SUCK!!!!

Im a die hard Red Sox fan but I really don't think they're Americas beloved team. A lot of those people at the game that were Red Sox fans might actually be from Boston...on vacation and the Sox just happened to have a game there so they went or the vacation planned around the games. But some if not most do live their....they may have moved there from Boston or maybe they're from there
Red Sox fans travel with the team tho

GO SOX!

I agree that the fans come out in droves. I see a strong showing at Angels Stadium also. I don't think that this makes them the most beloved, but they are quite popular on the road. I think that the Yankees are most loved and at the same time most hated. I dislike the Yanks so I always pull for the Bo Sox ...unless they are in Ahaheim. ;)

Ummm, no. People hate those stupid idiots. Whenever the Yankees come 2 town, the ballpark is sold out, no matter if they're playing the Rockies, or the Red Sox. Now, I bet some of those r fairweather fans, but it's not like Red Sox Nation doesn't have it's fair share of fairweathers.

Oh yea, I'm a Yankee fan, so I guess my answer is "not accepted". Ooops, sorry, my bad. I should be punished by u "magical" Red Sox fans.

As a Red Sox fan I don't care if they are the most beloved team in America...as long as they keep up this pace and fly through to the World Series I am happy.

But I'd say the Cubbies now that the Red Sox have ended the curse of the Bambino.

The Cubs have to be.No other team draws so many of its fans to road games. There have been alot of games where it seemed there were more Cub fans than fans of the other team. And what other team 7 games under .500 draws close to 40,000 people almost every night? without a doubt the Cubs have to be Americas most beloved baseball team.

I say the Cubs are the most loved team in all of baseball. Besides many(not all) fans are bandwagon jumpers anyway who conveniently only cheers for the team that's winning & have no loyalty to a team whatsover.

no they come in 2nd. THE CHICAGO CUBS are. they havnt won crap in almost 100 yrs and lost neraly 100 games last year but wrigley field is ALWAYS sold out and cubs fans go EVERYWHERE. it doesnt matter how far. when the cubs play the rockies at colorado, arizona, milwakee, or cincinatti, there are always equally or more cubs fans than the other team. but the red sox ARE a close second
