You are getting close to 4Th of July. Rates are going to be going up. Best room rate you are going to run into is probably in the $55 range but most are $65 and way up. Red Carpet is probably the cheapest. Ocean point is on the water and $65.
Rent your car on line and look for promotional deals. Sometimes a week will cost less than a day if you get the right promotion. I have not found that much difference in Airport rentals vs city rentals. You have a better selection at the airport usually.
good luck with this.

I use Royal Rent A Car near Miami Airport (locations in Miami, Ft. Laud & Orlando). I found their rates are the cheapest for travel within the state of Florida (out of state travel is restricted). I rent the cheapest (compact size) car they have online (about $20 p/day )and schedule the pick-up around 7pm. They usually don't have any by then so they upgrade me to a midsize and then for a few dollars more I get the Volvo. Of course, there's no guarantee this will happen to you but at $20 a day this is a good deal. www.royalrac.com

The cheapest ones don't advertise. There's a whole string of little mom & pop motels on South Federal Highway North & south of the Airport & running down to Hollywood.
