I'm into my second trimester and getting really sick of drinking water. What are some alternatives that are ok to drink while I'm pregnant? From what I've read Crystal Light is out of the question because of the artificial sweeteners. That would have been my drink of choice if it weren't for this.

You can flavor your water. You can also drink things like milk, juice (without all the sugar or sodium because that can make you more thirsty, dehydrate you and if you have acid indigestion I would recommend staying away from any citrus drink). Did you also know that you get a lot of water from food. If you like watermelon that has a lot of water in it. Most fruits do! Me, I cannot eat any fruit with high citrus content because I get blisters all over my tongue.

I would just stay away from sodas, coffee and any diuretics!
Soda or coffee every now and than aren't going to hurt your baby but they aren't the best either. If you get migraines from lack of caffeine I wouldn't suggest stopping all at once.

Good Luck!

Have you tried Propel water by Gatorade? Or vitamin water? Or just flavored water? They'll all keep you hydrated without artificial sweeteners. I know Wal Mart has Propel packs that you can mix in with a regular glass of water to give it some flavor (and about 40 calories), and it winds up being cheaper than buying the bottles.

You have lots of alternatives, and just about anything that doesn't have any alcohol or too much caffeine, or isn't an energy drink is safe. You can have flavored water, italian sodas, juice (or juice with some carbonated water), iced tea (300 milligrams of caffeine a day is fine; it's the equivalent to 2 cups of coffee), sodas, kool-aid made with either real sugar or Splenda, etc. The only artificial sweetner my doctor told me to limit was aspertame, but I used sacchrin (Sweet n' Low) my whole pregnancy, and my son was just fine. I also had 1 cup of coffee almost every day, or else tea, and he was fine too. There's also milk, which you need a lot of also, and various ways to flavor that, not to mention home-made smoothies.

100% juice is a good choice. If it's too sweet for you right now, you can water it down. Decaf iced tea, milk of course, and sparkling water all work too.

I agree to stay away from Crystal Light and other artificially sweetened drinks.

Good luck.

well then I did a big no no all through out my pregnancy last summer. I couldnt get myself to drink water because the whole time i was pregnant it reminded me of spit and i had a lot of that in the beginning because i was constantly puking! my son was born strong and healthy 4 weeks early almost and is a strong and healthy 9 month old. I think it would be okay to jazz up your water with the crystal light. i lived on that stuff. good luck with your pregnancy!

I hardly altered what I drank when I was pregnant (except for the alcohol). There's no rule saying you can't have any drinks with caffeine, sugar, artificial sweeteners, etc.. It's all about having moderation. I kept drinking coffee, I just switched to decaf. I drank pop, just not as much as I used to. And my baby came out as healthy as could be.

Don't worry so much, drinking and eating things on the "potentially bad" list aren't as harmful as you think.

Juices that are naturally sweetened area great option, Milk should be # 1 it's great for the baby too, not to mention helping your bones because calcium can actually be depleted when pregers, And soups , are good too, nutritious and will help keep you from dehydrating as well as keep you from feeling hungry.
Congrats!!!

Honestly I use to water down either orange Kool-aide so that it wasn't so icky sweet and sometimes real juice. I would get sick of water also...I would water down the juice or Kool-aide to the point that I could barely taste it but there was just enough flavor in the water that it wasn't so gross.

Juices are fine to drink, such as apple, grape, or a V8 would be great. if you are having heart burn do not drink orange juice! Just stay away from anything that has caffeign in it.

Gatorade is good. They have lots of flavors and no artificial sweeteners.
