Sure thing. In order to tape or take pictures of students though, the teacher MUST have written permission by the students' legal guardians. Teachers use cameras for a number of reasons. If it weirds you out, talk to your parents about it. They may update your status so that you're not being taped.

Video Cameras are allowed for many different reasons. If a teacher is trying to get National Board Certified she is required to video tape various lessons.
Still Cameras are also allowed and usually encouraged to be in schools. Teachers have rules about what they can/cannot photograph but having a camera in the classroom is a teaching tool. I have an old camera that is not too reliable I plan to allow my students to use to document class projects this year.

I am a teacher and we are REQUIRED to have cameras in the classroom. It serves a dual pupose: security issues are not in question when it can be reviewed on film, and, as a teacher, I can cover my back with my teaching techniques. I HATED this idea at first because I'm not an advocate of the "Big Brother Is Watching" theory, but it has only helped make things better. I had a student trash the classroom and threaten me, and the film was used to prove that I didn't provoke him in any way, shape, or form. He was expelled and I've been grateful for the candid camera ever since!

Probably. As far as I know, there are no rules against them. There may be rules against publishing (internet, newspaper, newsletter, etc) the pictures of individual students unless their parent has signed a release form. But as far as I know, you teacher can have a camera and take pictures for personal use. Portfolio, outside the in the hallway, etc.

I'm going to answer you aloud: YES, if your teacher weren't ALLOWED to have a camera, she wouldn't have one in class. Teachers have to follow the school rules, just as students do.

First off, its ALLOWED not ALOUD.
Second, what do you mean by "your teacher aloud to have"
i believe that teachers have the freedom to do as they wish [as long as its allowed by the rules]

ahahahaha this is so funny. teachers would never allow this in the classroom if it has sound. then people would have evidence on how dumb they are, how much time they waste, and how little they know about the subjects they teach. Not getting into the ones who sleep with the students. but will make a comment on how they disipline will also change. dont hold yoru hat on this one the union wont stand for it. OR MORE LIKELY THEY WILL ALLOW IT BUT THE UNION IS IN POSSESSION AND ONLY LETS IT OUT WHEN IT PROTECTS TEACHERS. FRAUDS THAT ARE KILLING OUR SCHOOLS
