UC Santa Cruz, Marijuana And Hippie Situation?

I've read a lot about UC Santa Cruz, and it seems like the perfect place for me to go for undergraduate school (besides Berkeley). I like the education and research institutions described in several reviews of the school.
However,I am strictly anti-drug,so my only concern is how bad the Marijuana and Hippie situation is at UC Santa Cruz. I've read that it is really bad and that a tremendous amount of people are potheads or hippies. Can someone please fill me in on the details.

If what other people are doing really bothers you, I'd stay away from either UC campus you mentioned. For that matter, you will find "pot heads" at just about any university or college in the United States, or maybe anywhere in the world outside of China. Go to the school with the best program. Study hard and don't use drugs yourself. And, unless somebody really tries to get you to use something, don't worry about other people so much.
