Newsflash: Nobody gives a crap about your sexual preference (except perhaps your partner). Further, most heterosexuals who get annoyed at "gay pride" are not bothered as a result of any sort of homophobia. They simply don't believe that homosexuals deserve any special treatment as a result of their preferences, much less deserve a parade every few months that disrupts traffic and makes the rest of us late for work because we have to wait for a bunch of weirdos in rainbow thongs, high heels, and pink feather boas to flounce by.

Equal treatment is, after all, the goal isn't it?

people forget what this is all about.....we are people, who for the most part, started out a good chunks of our lives hiding in the closet scared people would find out who we are.

This day is a reminder to us all to celebrate living an open and honest life. Heteros have lived open and honest their whole lives, so it's no big deal to them. But, to us, it's a good reminder of where we came from and to celebrate where we are now.....living our lives openly and honestly.

Nothing wrong with that. People don't like it, they can stick it.

It is okay but only sometimes. If showing pride in your sexuality counters your duty in being socially responsive (respectful to other perceptions of humanity) it is not okay. I believe the true problem is there is too much flaunting and pressing of unwanted views in the faces of others. This is true of many social views and we as gays need to admit we are just as bad as the next. Loving ourselves for who we are does not mean we should smother our ways as superior to anyone elses. We have made just as many mistakes.

You dont' need to run around with a rainbow flag or tell everyone you meet your sexuality. But there is nothing wrong with showing pride in who you are and you should never be made to feel ashamed about your sexulaity.
Pride is about showing others we are happy with ourselves, so hopefully others can accept and be happy about their sexuality also.
It's OK to have pride in who you are.

It is okay to show pride in whatever you take pride in, whether it is you race, religions, sexuality, etc. What is NOT okay is putting others down, being hateful, or committing crimes and then calling it pride.

Sometimes people can be over bearing with their whole pride thing.

It's good that you have pride. It makes you more confident and a more attractive person.

I don't think people need to show 'pride' in their sexuality. However, they can show pride in the type of person they are - that's much more important.

of course it is okay. some people choose not to accept people based on it, but really if they are like that then why befriend them, ya know. be confident in your sexuality but dont bring other people down if they dont because thats when problems occur.
