If you really love her as you have stated, then be patient and wait it out. I think she will even love you for thinking that ' she's worth the wait'.

Aside from calling, as was suggested by another answer, there are also sites online where you can look up the current legal status, such as: http://opa.osophs.dhhs.gov/titlex/statutory%20rape_state%20laws_lewin.pdf
It's a pdf file, yes, but a chart on page 15 shows the current age of consent in all the states. It says the age of consent in Arkansas is 16. Check it out if you're interested. The file has a lot of other information on consent age laws and whatnot.

Gee. Maybe you should first find out if your romance is more than just a physical attraction, and if you're willing to make a long-term commitment, possibly even consider marriage - and give serious thought to what would happen if the two of you became pregnant. Would you just abandon her and escape any responsibility for the care and well-being of the child? Would you expect her to get an abortion so you don't have the financial responsibility (if you're concerned about the legal age of consent, it sounds like you're mostly looking out for yourself, trying to save your own butt). Would you blame her for getting pregnant? Or would you - could you - be mature enough to assume the duties of being a responsible parent? I think you've got a lot more to think about than the age of consent, young man. Grow up and be a man before your get yourself into a sticky wicket. -RKO- 06/24/07

The Legal age of consent is 18 but could be diiferent in your state. You mat not be commiting statuatory rape if the underage is OVER 16, as that is the case in MOST states. Look to your locaL DA for the answer to that question, or you can always anonymously ( from a payphone or cell phone if your paranoid) call the police dept and ask. Good Luck

18!!!! Give her a year. A lot can change between now and then. I'd hate for her to regret this, after you were caring enough to ask. Even though dating a girl seven years younger than you is for CREEPS. What were you doing at 17? I'm sure you're a bit wiser now. But since you asked this question, maybe not.

This isn't an answer only a tip. Since consent laws vary from state to state make sure to take any advice from someone who is a different state from you unless the explicitly say they know Arkansas law.

I think you're ok. I'm pretty sure its 16 in arkansas, as long as they are still close in age. I dated an older guy when I was 16, and my parents tried filing charges against him, but couldnt. I'm from arkansas also.

Sexual Consent Age Laws (USA)
This laws are for sexual consent in the United States only. As with any laws, these are subject to change. If you see two ages in one cell, that is because the age of consent is different for females and for males. Yes, that makes no sense, but I didn't make these laws. These laws are often very old. If you are younger than age 18, please check the laws in the state in which you reside.
Although many young people are mature enough to know how to deal with the consequences of sex, some teens are not grown up enough to know that their actions have consequences.
Age of consent laws are there to stop young people from being exploited by adults.
That is why you need to register to VOTE at age 18 and make your opinions heard! End of lecture.

What Does The Age of Consent Mean?
The age of consent is the age when the law says you can agree to have sex. In most countries it means until you reach this age you can not legally have sex with anyone, regardless of their age old. In the United States and Canada this is the same situation. Sometimes the law is different if you are female or male.
"Our Parents Say It's Okay and We Do it in Their House."
This may sound odd to some, but this is the case in some households. HOWEVER, this does not make any difference in the eyes of the law! Your parents don't make the laws of your state or province. The age of consent laws always apply, no judge will care if you're in love, or if you've been together for years, or you've had sex before.
Why Do We Have These Laws?
Although many young people are mature enough to know how to deal with the consequences of sex, some teens are not grown up enough to know that their actions have consequences. Age of consent laws are there to stop young people from being exploited by adults.
Is There an Age of Consent For Gay Men and Lesbians?
Yes. Some places have different ages of consent limits for homosexuals, and in other countries this sort of relationship is against the law. To find out about your area in the United States, check the consent chart.
What is Statutory Rape?
It’s a crime committed when an adult has sexual intercourse with a minor. Who is a minor? Anyone under the age of 18, (or 16; check this list and the current laws in your state.)
What can happen if an adult has sex with a minor? Even if he is your boyfriend? If reported, that person may be arrested, tried in a court of law, and sent to jail. What happens if the sex is consensual and one is a minor? Even if they both agree to have sex, it is still statutory rape.
Q. What can happen if an adult has sex with a minor? Even if he is your boyfriend and even if your parents allow it?

I say you should wait the month and a half. If you love her, and she loves you it won't matter if you had sex now or years from now. There should never be a rush to have sex. I know from experience. Good luck!
