I am trying to see if the Depro-Prevera Shot of birthcontrol is linked to Osteoporosis in any for. I have searched but have come up empty handed. I just thought someone else may know something about this.

Depo Provera increases the risk of Osteoporosis. You should take 800 mg of Calcium each day.

I don't know if Depo can be directly linked to Osteoporosis, but I know that Depo can leach the calcium out of your body, that is why it's highly recommended that when you're on Depo, you also take a calcium supplement as well.

I'm not really sure. All I know is that the Depo Prevera takes calcium from your bones. Anyone who is on thins type of birth control they should take extra calcium.

Use of depo provera for an extended period of time (>2 years ) can lead to bone loss. It can easily be prevented with Calcium and Vit D supplements.
