From fraud website: Counterfeit Cashier's Check
*Inspect the cashier's check.
*Ensure the amount of the check matches in figures and words.
* Check to see that the account number is not shiny in appearance.
* Be watchful that the drawer's signature is not traced.
* Official checks are generally perforated on at least one side.
* Inspect the check for additions, deletions, or other alterations.
* Contact the financial institution on which the check was drawn to ensure legitimacy.
* Obtain the bank's telephone number from a reliable source, not from the check itself.
* Be cautious when dealing with individuals outside of your own country.

That being said, it seems that the scam works if you were sending money to buy goods, not the other way around. Here is the Western union link for frequently asked questions regarding security:

Thats not just a scam, its one of the oldest scam. NEVER take western union for anything! And them offering more than your asking should have been a good tipoff.

How it works is they send you either a fake check or fradulant western union (for over the amount) you cash the check send them the car/bike (and the extra cash if you are honest) then a couple weeks later the bank realizes the check is no good and comes after you for the entire amount.

It's a scam. Tell him to come to your house with the money in cash, good old US dollars, or no deal. He can pick up the motorcycle at the same time, and you'll sign the documents at that time too. It's not like you can wire the motorcycle.

it may or may not be a scam someone else could pick up the money for him showing that you picked it up
if it is a check from them then it is probably no good

(i don,t trust sending or recieving money through them)
for that much i would have to go with a cashiers check (after it clears)or some form where i have the money in my hand before the bike goes anywhere

if it is over what you are asking for the bike it is definately a scam
