I'm a huge Seattle Mariners Fan. I've heard rumors that Griffey Jr. would retire as a Mariner. That being said, what players (past/present) from the M's should we eventually see in the HOF?
I really have only three candidates:
Ken Griffey Jr., the face of the Mariners for 11 seasons

Edgar Martinez, arguably even more beloved the Jr., best DH ever

Ichiro Suzuki, electrifying player, he's who you came to see in the down years. hope he stays.

I'd also put Jamie Moyer in just cuz, but I don't think his career stats are Hall worhty yet??

Ken Griffey Junior is an obvious one. He should go in as a Mariner because his most dominant seasons were in Seattle. A-Rod is another former Mariner who's a sure fire Hall of Famer, but it's questionable what cap he'll be wearing. I'd say Ichiro will be Hall of Fame worthy by the time he retires. I think Edgar Martinez should be in the Hall, but I also think that too many voters will hold the DH thing against him. Randy Johnson, but he probably won't go in with a Mariners cap. That's about it I'd say.

Someone mentioned Gaylord Perry. He doesn't really count. He only pitched one and a half seasons in Seattle, posting a 13-22 record and a cumulative 4.57 ERA with the team. One of those wins was his 300th. He's in the Hall of Fame as a Giant.

Depending on how the rest of their careers work out, it is possible that Alex Rodriguez and Randy Johnson will wear a Mariners cap on their Hall of Fame cap.

Jamie Moyer has been productive for a very long time, but never was dominant enough to warrant consideration for the Hall of Fame. Edgar Martinez was a very good hitter for a very long time; if there is ever a full-time DH elected to the Hall it will be him. But I do not believe that he will be until after Jim Rice is elected; the concern about Rice is that he was a DH for about half of his great career.

Edit: Rice was a DH 25% of his career though it should have been more as his fielding percentage was an atrocious .980.

There is a bias against DH's...just compare Al Oliver's stats to Billy Williams, but Edgar should make the Hall. Moyer may face a tough situation, like a Tommy John; a guy who hung around a long time and was a good pitcher, just not a dominant one. I am curious about Ichiro, as there may come a time where Japanese players have their whole career looked at, not just their MLB stats. Kinda like former ABA players who had decent NBA careers.

i think that there will be several Mariners eventually headed to the Hall of Fame, this list includes but is not limited to:
Ken Griffey Jr.
Randy Johnson
Edgar Martinez
Ichiro
A Rod
John Olerud ??
Tino Martinez ??
A. Beltre ??
Jamie Moyer ?? (very outside chance)
Omar Visquel (the wizard of Oz of his era)
and possibly even Lou Pinella eventually as Manager ??

Right now, Gaylord Perry is the only former Mariner in the Hall, having played for them in 1982-83, picking up his 300th win during that time.

Eventually, there will be Griffey and Rodriguez and Johnson and, it is my sincere hope, Edgar Martinez.

Suzuki is certainly doing the right things, but until he gets to 10 years it would be premature to speculate with confidence.

Unit, I think, would have a Diamondbacks logo on his cap.

ARod, too soon to tell (he's got a lot of years left in him), but probably Seattle.

Junior, no doubt Seattle.

Edgar, there's no other choice. I'd have voted him for the 1995 AL MVP, but no one asked me.

Already have Gaylord Perry. Who else? Well, Jr is dead lock. Edgar is a close bet as has any strictly DH been elected? Ichiro for sure based on his entire career (after all it is not the MLB HOF). Moyer--not a chance in hell. He's a good pitcher but not exactly even in Bert Blyleven's league and BB is still on outside looking in, I think.

i agree with your list totally.....they are all great candidates....i loved the mariners in 98 w/ a-rod (who i now despise), ken griffey j (one of my favorite players) and randy johnson (one of my favorite pitchers)

i'd say that if jamie moyer keeps going he can have hall of fame numbers...he's a decent pitcher....and was great earlier in his career....another great mariner as of now is the pitcher hernandez...and may have great numbers and is really young...so he'll have many more years to pitch....he even beat dice-k in a pitchers duel...i was really impressed by that guy (and i'm a red sox fan)

btw good luck in our series starting tomorrow
