I've got a 1990 Ford Bronco that needs a new paint job. It's a trail truck, so it's going to get some rock-rash and tree/brush scuffs, so I don't want to drop a lot of money on a nice paint job, but I still want it to look decent. So, after a ton of research, I decided to go with tractor paint. (The paint they shoot on farming implements, tractors, metal pipes and tanks, etc.) My question is...can I shoot it with a Wagner power painter, or do I have to use a compressor/paint gun? Thanks!

I would use a paint gun for a compressor you have a finer discharge of paint. I think you will have better control of the paint. And get a nicer result.

I personally own one that I purchased about 2 years ago. I painted the exterior of my house & my sister's house as well as a couple of rooms in my own house. The only thing that I didn't like too much was the small hopper-it only holds 2 gallons, but besides that it worked like a champ!! TIP: At most home improvement stores you can buy "OOPS" paint at a much reduced price-usually about $5. Get a can of this of the same brand that you are going to buy for the color (different companies have different viscosities) & use this for practice on an old piece of plywood or something, so you don't waste too much money on the good paint. Using an airless sprayer takes some time to master. Read the instructions carefully & don't be afraid to ask the people where you buy it from if you have any questions.

I wouldn't. If the paint is similar to automotive enamel, it's designed to be applied with a compressor/spray gun. I think an airless sprayer would result in an uneven finish and it wouldn't look very good.

Good luck with the Bronco. I own a 1991 Eddie Bauer edition.

The chemicals in the tractor paint may eat up your sprayer may I suggest good ol rustoleum avaiable in quarts at your local hardware store looks good durable and easy to touch up,just don't ever think about trying to put automotive paint back on top of it

I would paint it in camo, you can do it with a brush and it comes out fine, cause it's flat, looks cool in a 4X4 too. You can do it in desert or woodland colors, see a lot of them here in Louisiana.
