Doesn't it seem that no one's really happy nowadays? I mean, can anyone come up with a good answer? See, I just started slipping into negativity.

Being cynical is a negative form of idealism, it is a coping mechanism, it helps us to prevent ourselves from being disappointed. If we always find the bad in everything, then we will less often be disappointed.

I would say that not all people are this way but those of us who are are just protecting ourselves sub-consciously.

I just feel like blah and I don't like this forum, I already did what I was going to do here and now it is lots of little kids and so if I was wanting to write questions and answers for little kids then maybe this would be fine, but that is not what I am wanting so this just doesn't seem to be interesting to me at this point. I suppose that is okay and I suppose a bunch of people have left for that very reason. Yahoo maybe needs to do something to change that? Generally everything is fun when it first starts and this is old now and people besides just me probably feel awkward here? I don't know for sure if that is how I want to say it, just not what we are into right now maybe? Yahoo should take a hint and try to make it different for the people using this. I don't know what they can do or should do guess that is on them.

"Everyone" is not so negative. But a large number of people are negative, sometimes with good reason. Life has its ups and downs and I even find myself negative some days. I love teaching or learning about new topics, but there are things about human existence that I hate. Whether you perceive me as a negative person will depend on what day you encounter or meet me. This is an honest (not negative) answer.

Wait a minute.
Yet another generalisation, and this ones about the whole human race.
The simple truth is some people thrive on negativity, and others don't.
I have a good job in a country with low unemployment, no wars, average crime(doesn't everyone) It all depends on how you view things.

Be well.

Being negative is a protective response or life strategy. In being positive, there is always the possibility of having that positive state changed.

i don't think that it's that everyone's negative, at least NOW in particular, i think it's just maybe who you hang out with/ the type of environment you're in. i'm in a really happy (almost TOO positive) environment, so i obviously don't think so. just hang out with the right people and in the right place and it won't seem so bad.

There are a lot of optimistic people. But the world's going to crap and Generation X is realizing it's in their hands to fix it. That's a pretty depressing prospect.

I'm not negative. I'm a very optimistic person.
